Therapeutic process
On the day of the operation, the entire therapeutic process will be explained to you in detail before the procedure begins. The implant shall then be set accordingly into place. After the procedure, light swelling can be expected in the area of the operation for one to three days.
Corresponding to the treatment planned and individual anatomical considerations, modern implantology offers differing methods for the healing process with differing healing times for the various processes.
The covered healing process is where the implant is completely covered by the mucous membrane and can be uncovered after ca. two to four months.
Another alternative is the transgingivale healing process. In this method the covering sealed from the implant is visible through the mucous membrane from the onset of treatment.
Recent improvements in implantation techniques and devices have enabled the provision for a securely placed replacement tooth within the space of a few days time.
When the healing phase is finished, the implant is osseointegrated. This means that the implant is firmly anchored into the bone just like a natural tooth. The implant is checked again after two to six months time. This method affords the patient the definitive therapeutic solution.
